Tether Surpasses Germany in U.S. Treasury Holdings, Reinforcing Stablecoin Reserve Strategy
Tether now holds $120 billion in U.S. Treasuries, eclipsing Germany’s $111.4 billion, according to its Q1 2025 attestation report. The stablecoin issuer has become a major player in dollar liquidity distribution, leveraging traditional assets to back USDT.
The company ranked as the seventh-largest buyer of U.S. Treasuries in 2024, outpacing sovereign nations like Canada and Norway. These investments aim to bolster USDT’s stability and ensure liquidity during market turbulence.
"This milestone reflects our conservative reserve management strategy," Tether stated, highlighting its evolving role in global finance. The shift toward Treasury backing marks a strategic pivot for the world’s largest stablecoin issuer.
